Teaching at an International School in Bangkok: What Every Teacher Should Know
Teaching English in a foreign country can be a highly rewarding experience. Credentials
Most schools in Bangkok will require some sort of teaching certification or advanced degree.
Some of the certifications you may need can be but are not limited to:

- TEFL Certification
- Masters of Education
- Teaching Experience
Some schools will allow you to study for your TEFL certification while you get started at your new school. Many international schools require a Masters or higher to be a teacher or an administrator. Visas
If you find yourself teaching at a school in Bangkok chances are they will help you secure a visa and work permit. If you are able to secure work before you travel to Bangkok, it’s likely you can get your work visa in your country before arrival. A work permit can only be acquired inside the country with help from your school. Before accepting a job offer from a school or college, be sure to ask about what kind of visa assurance they can offer you while you teach at the school.
Housing
If you are going to be teaching in Bangkok it’s safe to say you will need a place to live! Luckily Bangkok has plenty of flats and apartments to choose from. Some schools may provide their international teachers with a flat to live in. In other cases, you may be required to find your own housing. If you are looking for a place to live be sure to consider the location. If you teach at a Rama 2 international kindergarten it is a good idea to live nearby to cut down on commute times to and from work.
